Imam Zaid Shakir is a proper scholar, one who knows what constitutes kufr and hence he would not even go close to it. He knows the context in which he made them comments so why can't we leave it at that. Do you not feel it better to accept the good in people rather then making people kaffir all the time.

Just for the record, Muslims do NOT refer to Allah as a "father." There is NO BOOK on traditional Islamic doctrine that says human beings are the "children of Allah." Such a statement would NEVER come from a Muslim scholar--even in an allegedly "figurative sense" (incidentally, Zaid Shakir also said that humans are Allah's children in another ISNA speech). The statement is kufr. Please don't get wrapped up into cults of personality. Wrong is wrong--regardless of who says it.

Zaid Shakir is a blasphemer for claiming that "we are the children of God". Even if he claims it "figuratively" it's still makes him a kafir! When the jews said that "Uzayr was the son of Allah" they didn't mean it literally but still Allah called them blasphemers. We need to warn against this person!!!

That was a great speech...does anyone know whether imam zaid shakir has discussed women in islam, particularly honor killings? Its a topic that needs to be discussed.

Exactly...its so typical. When someone hates islam, they really hate it. And when they cant argue against it, they say it isnt from islam but christianity. It seems batavian has it set that everything bad comes from islam and everything good comes from christianity.

i agree, im asbsolutely sure he was not using it in literal terms, although i personally wouldnt use such an analogy, people imam zaid shakir is a better muslim then we we'll ever be so anyone here who is bashing on him should shut his mouth, May Allah bless him and bless us ameen
