Kris' original version is much better. To me, the only country musicians that matter are Hank Williams and Kris Kristofferson. This is an awful version honestly. This song is supposed to be depressing, it just sounds like a boring country outtake. I've never understood what is so great about Johnny Cash. He has never done anything for me, though I'm also not big on country like I said before. Give me folk anyday.
