Never noticed the connection with "My Fair Lady" but when they're running down the street towards the end it looks a lot like West Side Story (made about five years after this).

Matthew Bourne borrowed this whole concept when he choreographed "My Fair Lady." When I saw it, I may have been the only person who recognized it.
