You have to remember that in what we know as the British Isles in pre Roman times were populated by various tribes. In England at the time of the Roman invasion some of those tribes became fully integrated with the Romans and some Britons became very prosperous and built their own villas. Devon and Cornwall retain some celtic DNA. But all areas of these islands were overun by invaders up to 1066. The Orcadians have a lot of Viking DNA as do the NE of England.

actualy mike118117 your not entiarly right as most of the the celts in england moved north in to northen parts of england and scotland and west in to wales when the Angles, Saxons, and Jutes tribes invaded the south and east of Great Britain thats why it is easyer to find celt DNA in wales and scotland and irland than it is in england

Maybe there's not so much animosity anymore, but remember when the English persecuted the Irish (for hundreds of years?)And, Celtic blood is not just found in England, but Ireland, Scotland, and the tip of Brittany in France. How did Celts die out? They just mixed with other races but still exist

The only problem with that is that Celts no longer exist. Like the Angles and Saxons they disappeared as a race centuries ago. The Celts in the area we now call England stayed during the Roman period and celtic DNA can still be traced in parts of England. What is it with you pseudo Celts and the English. It's about time you grew up. You will find little anti Irish or Scots sentiments expressed in England. By the way black pudding is a northern English delicacy, not a Scottish one.

To sing this song completely in English received pronunciation would alter the the scanning. The "o" in to would need a longer note a 1/4 or 1/8. Likewise the "o" in rosemary. The beat is on "ar" in Scarborough and "mare" in rosemary. There must be thousands of poems and song lyrics where letters are omitted to allow proper scanning for rhyme or to fit the tune. Also it allows the singer room for interpreting the song the way that they want to. There is nothing wrong with her English.

I'd still listen to their versions solely b/c I grew up it. BUT.. Hayley Westenra brings something so indescribable. I get chills every time I listen to this. :)
