Emo/scene/ska? What? You can't fault a musician for wanting to try new things, and I don't know what you heard, but this doesn't qualify as any of the above. This reminds me of kids back in high school who tried extra hard to be the authorities on "punk" or what have you... here's the thing, no one cares!
