Wilfredo Benitez would have dominated today's welterweights.

Are you kidding? Benitez spent the entire Hearns fight trying to avoid getting KO'd. He didn't throw more than a handful of meaningful punches all night.

at the age of 17, Benitez became the youngest champion in boxing history!

An impressive KO here as Hope was a pretty good fighter. Such a shame Wilfred is now broke and walking around not knowing his arse from his elbow. One of the all time greats in my humble opinion!

Unfortunately, his mom passed away today (Friday, July 25th, 2008) May she rest in peace...

benitez was a force to be reckoned with...if u watch the fight with him and hearns you'll see how hearns runs around stickin 2 his jab like a fakeass sugar ray lol kinda like tito and dlhoya he didnt wanna go toe 2 toe with benitez*

did you see what he was doing? he was sticking the jab out and throwing the right hand to the body, then he change the right hand from the body to the head but kept looking at the body, what a shot

One of the most beautiful KO's ever. Especially as Benitez wasn't considered a power puncher. Love the way he throws the right, then just relaxes as Hope falls. If memory serves me correctly, Benitez used a very effective body attack throughout the fight, and even knocked one of Hope's teeth out before the KO. Just an incredible beating and KO to top it.
